In the late 90s, Scotland, a nation of only 5 million people, was by some considered as the next Seattle. With bands like Belle & Sebastian, Primal Scream and Teenage Fanclub, Scotland truly was a music force to be reckoned with. Among this group of excellent bands, Arab Strap was always the darkest. With their outspoken, confrontational yet often funny lyrics sung in Scots tongue they lead us into a night where no one sleeps. Over danceable, electro-acoustic beats signed by multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Middleton, vocalist Aidan Moffat talks and sings with a rare honesty. After a 16-year long gap, Arab Strap returned with the fantastic album ‘As Days Get Dark’ and once again invited us into the very sincere and unique universe that is Arab Strap.
